MODEL TS-2 TREMOLO SWITCH
The original “brown-case” or
half-moon shaped Leslie tremolo control switches
were the industry standard for controlling Leslie
motor speed changes. But… they were easily
broken during moving, the switch contacts wore
frequently causing the Leslie to switch
intermittently, and the brown plastic knobs were
simply impossible to keep attached to the top of
the switch lever arm. Many organists found
themselves with bleeding fingers or palms due to
the knob problem!
During the 60’s and 70’s when many HAMMOND’s
were used on the road or moved constantly for
other reasons, most organists replaced these
switches with other style switches mounted either
under the front rail of the organ, or in the
lower manual left-hand endblock. In some cases,
the installation of a tremolo switch in the
original endblock was difficult due to its design
– wooden on the oldest organs or black plastic on
the later models. They were also not easily
removed and required knowledge of the organ
disassembly procedure for installation of a new
switch or for replacement.
The TS-2 Tremolo Switch was designed to
address all of these problems, perform very
consistently and offer the organist several
additional advantages.
MODEL TS-2 Tremolo Switch
Features
- Mounted in a sturdy steel replacement
endblock, which replaces the lower manual
left hand end block (wood or black
plastic) on most Hammond console model
organs. The steel end block provides
greater protection from moving damage,
which is the number one cause of
switch failure.
- Provides convenient “rocker
switch” control of the
Leslie speaker speed changes
- Available in two or three position
versions, depending upon which model
Leslie is being connected. The three
position version is used for some solid-state
Leslie models which offer an OFF position
in addition to the Chorale (slow) and
Tremolo (fast).
- Two electrically isolated switch sections
within the TS-2 allow the control of
different model Leslies with a single
switch. As an example, if you happen to
have a Leslie model 122 and a model 147,
both Leslie tremolo control
circuits can be wired through a single
TS-2 switch. (Other Leslie
hookup concerns must still be handled,
such as correct audio wiring, specific
motor control circuitry differences, AC
power wiring, etc.)
- A pre-punched mounting hole is provided
for addition of a reverb or other control
in the same enclosure.
The TS-2 Tremolo Control Switch was
designed to be used in the following console
HAMMOND Organ Models:
A, AB, B, BA, BC, C,
AV, BCV, BV, CV, DV, A-100, B-2, C-2, B-3, C-3,
D, G, D-152, RT, RT-2, RT-3
NOTE: The
TS-2 is a Tremolo Control Switch ONLY, it is NOT
a Leslie Connector Kit! The correct Leslie
Connector Kit must be used
to hook up an organ to a Leslie! A listing of new
